Summer is coming, and with it comes the next stage of club upgrades. We've survived a chilly winter with the new boiler system and now it's time to start working on the air temperature! To do this, the existing air handling unit (previously thought to be the dehumidifier) needs removing and replacing. This unit draws in the air from poolside via the large white vent near the sauna, heats it up/dries it out, and pushes it back out onto poolside with help from the giant white ventilation tubing above the pool. In addition to this unit, the smaller secondary air handling unit (AHU) located on the extension roof (above the changing rooms) needs replacing. This unit serves a similar purpose to the poolside AHU but provides the changing rooms with warm, dry heat in the winter and acts as an extraction fan in the summer. These units have not been working up to now, and their replacement will provide a nicer environment for swimmers and changing room users. The entire poolside & changing room area will now be warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. Once we are able to dry out the changing rooms, we will then be able to proceed with redecorating & upgrading the changing room facilities, to bring them into the modern era and create a nicer changing space for everyone to use. The first stage of this work, will begin next week alongside the AHU replacement. New shower plumbing & fittings will be installed, replacing the very outdated, current units. We would like to involve residents as much as possible with the changing room redecoration & would love to hear what you have to say. I'll be talking about this in more depth in a future update - so stay tuned! This stage of work (AHUs & showers) will begin on Tuesday the 31st of May. Unfortunately whilst we are having the new showers installed, the changing rooms will have to be closed so this can be done. Therefore we have opted to close the changing rooms from 11am until 3pm every day next week so as to cause as little disruption as possible to swimmers during busier times. The Pool will remain open throughout the week whilst the work is underway, but there may be some disruption to Sauna access. We will provide further information as soon as we know more! | |
