I decided to write this blog post in a similar manner to that of the Plant Room refurbishment works from back in 2015, with this 'Update 0' serving as a look at the existing facilities before the work is due to start. Doing so should allow us all to be able to see the before & after more clearly. The work due to be undertaken on the 17th consists of 4 main areas:
The Male & Female changing rooms were last updated in late 2004 and have had minimal work undertaken since, until The HRA Management Company took over the club's management in 2011. Many of the existing fixtures date back to as early as 1990, when the club was opened in it's current form. As the most commonly used part of the building, the changing rooms have taken their fair share of wear and tear over the last 27 years and it's about time they were given the 'makeover' treatment. As part of the club's ongoing efforts to try and cater to residents of all walks of life, we felt the need to create an accessible changing space suitable to the elderly, the disabled or physically impaired. In order to do this, one of the large poolside cupboards will be transformed into an accessible changing room independant of the two existing changing areas. The spa, as many of you will already know, has been out of commission for quite some time. This is due to a large number of reasons too long for me to list in this blog, which have made the existing unit beyond repair and in need of replacement. In order to do this, the existing spa will have to be removed along with it's associated plant equipment from the building and the surrounding floor made suitable for a newer model. We have tendered extensively for someone who is able to undertake all of the required work above and we are delighted to announce we have already selected a contractor and a date for work to begin on an agreed plan. The refurbishment will begin on Wednesday the 19th of July and last 4-6 weeks throughout the summer holidays. We hope the disruption isn't too much of a problem for members and neighboring residents. We are hoping to be able to keep the pool and other facilities open throughout the summer, but there may be days where certain facilities are closed due to the nature of the works at the time. We will be doing our best to advise you all when this will be in advance of the date. There will be an alternative changing solution in place from the 17th, if you plan on swimming, please be aware of signage around the club so that there aren't any issues. If you have any questions, please feel free to talk to a member of staff or send us an email. Thank you for reading & stay tuned for further updates! | The state of the female changing room before the works begin. |
